Keep lifesaving medical services running in Gaza and the West Bank
In Gaza and the West Bank, the need for medical care is urgent.
Thousands of people live in tents and makeshift shelters, coping with the trauma of bombings, mass killings, and displacement. Only a handful of hospitals remain open operating at severely reduced capacity.
After more than 25 years working in the region, Doctors of the World - together with 36 other organisations - are now at risk of being forced to close our services. This threat by the Israeli government is a breach of international law. With more than half of all health services in the area relying on international charities, this would have devastating consequences during an ongoing medical emergency.
Our team of 130 doctors, nurses, midwives, and psychologists continues to provide over 13,000 medical consultations every week, running seven clinics and delivering lifesaving care to thousands of people living with trauma. With over 3 million people in need of humanitarian aid, this vital work must continue.
We are calling on governments to pressure Israeli authorities to suspend and reverse this decision. Humanitarian organisations must be allowed to operate so that people in Gaza and the West Bank can access the care they urgently need.
Allowing aid agencies to operate is not optional, conditional, or political. It’s an obligation enshrined in international law.
